Understanding the route to full NMC registration is essential before applying. Here is the standard pathway for internationally educated nurses (IENs):
Submit your application to the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). Your documents — nursing degree, registration certificate, and experience letters — are verified. DHS guides you through every form and fee.
An online nursing knowledge test that can be taken from your home country. It covers clinical knowledge and decision making. DHS offers structured CBT preparation coaching with mock tests.
IELTS Academic: 7.0 (L/R/S) & 6.5 (W) or OET: Grade B (L/R/S) & C+ (W). DHS coaching centres offer focused IELTS and OET preparation programmes specifically designed for healthcare professionals.
Once your CBT and language test are cleared, you arrive in the UK. You work as a Band 4 nurse under supervised practice while completing the final stage. DHS coordinates your employer, accommodation and airport arrival.
Taken at an NMC-approved test centre in the UK. It tests clinical skills in simulated scenarios. DHS supports you with OSCE preparation materials and coaching before the exam.
On passing OSCE, you receive your NMC PIN and are upgraded to a Band 5 Registered Nurse. Your salary increases to £27,055–£32,934/yr and you practice independently across all clinical settings.
Both BSc and GNM nurses are eligible. NMC assesses each application individually — DHS has successfully registered nurses from all nursing backgrounds.
NHS Trusts actively recruit internationally educated nurses across virtually all clinical areas. The following specialisations currently have the highest vacancy volumes:
High demand across NHS and private critical care units.
Scrub nurses, anaesthetic and recovery nurses needed urgently.
Emergency nurses with acute care experience highly sought.
RMN-qualified nurses for NHS mental health trusts across the UK.
Paediatric and NICU nurses for children's hospitals and trusts.
Cancer care nurses for specialist oncology and haematology units.
Medical, surgical and orthopaedic ward nurses in high demand.
District and community nurses for NHS community health services.
The NHS employs over 700,000 nurses and faces a structural shortage of 40,000+ posts — creating long-term, stable demand for internationally educated nurses across all specialities and regions.
NHS pay bands are transparent and nationally set. On top of salary, you receive an NHS pension, paid annual leave, maternity/paternity pay, sick pay, and London weighting allowances.
Move from Band 5 to Band 6 (Senior/Specialist) and Band 7 (Team Leader/Advanced). Progress to Advanced Clinical Practitioner, Nurse Consultant, or Nurse Manager roles within 3–5 years.
UK Skilled Worker Visa enables you to apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) after 5 years — giving you and your family the right to live and work in the UK permanently.
Prepare the following documents before starting your NMC application. DHS provides a personalised document checklist and reviews every submission before filing.
All documents not originally in English must be accompanied by a certified translation. DHS can connect you with NMC-accepted translation services.

CBT (Computer-Based Test) is an online multiple-choice test that assesses nursing theory and clinical knowledge — you can take it from India. OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Exam) is a hands-on practical assessment held at an NMC-approved centre in the UK, and is taken after you arrive and start working as a Band 4 nurse.
Yes. Many NHS Trusts and private hospital groups consider newly graduated nurses with limited or no post-registration experience. The minimum is typically 6 months, but several of our partner employers actively recruit freshers with strong academic records. DHS will assess your profile and match you to the right employer.
From submitting your NMC application to receiving your PIN typically takes 6–12 months, depending on document verification speed and how quickly you pass CBT, IELTS/OET and OSCE. With DHS's structured coaching and document management, most candidates complete the process in 8–10 months.
The NMC and most UK employers consider a career gap of up to 18 months acceptable. Candidates with longer gaps may need to demonstrate recent clinical learning or refresher training. DHS evaluates your specific situation and advises on the best approach.
Most NHS Trusts and private hospital employers provide free or subsidised accommodation for the first 8–12 weeks to help you settle in. After that, you arrange your own accommodation — DHS provides guidance and connects you with local housing resources. Airport pick-up is also arranged by the employer.
Yes. On a UK Skilled Worker Visa, you are entitled to bring your spouse/partner and dependent children. Employer packages typically include sponsorship support for dependent visas. After 5 years, the entire family can apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR).
No. All recruitment services provided by Dynamic Health Staff to candidates are completely free of charge. We are remunerated by the employer.
